Here are some of the most important derivational suffixes of Quertílian.
-ér (shortens the preceding vowel) - someone who does or is something, works somewhere, is related to something, profession, person, male: lantér beginner, ioni'ér youngster, inthér worker, rondér gardener, quferthér a dangerous person
-en/-én - gender change, female (replaces -ér): lantén a female beginner, inthén female worker
-m male, profession: urqam cartographer, tiftém writer
-∅ the result or a consequence of an action or the action / state itself: inth work, quférth danger, lonhias good feeling, luwan sadness, qapi apology, nuth product
-ion/-rion (for -i'é verbs) an ongoing action: pamawion washing, nuthion production, li'éwingion singing, gerwíthirion cooking, fqemielion serving
-(i)t place: lisunit bed room, rítwit battle field
-íra (and other plural forms used in singular) collective: Suthiqeiu em te itéra. Humankind is cursed. Please note the singular em. ioni'éra youth
-on time period: qlemson time to eat, qarnon celebration, rítwon a battle
-(i)su, -(i)si (male / female) inhabitant: querítelisu, querítelisi, dowirenisu, gesenrskhesi
-re instrument or cause: qere lighter, ulminate hammer (breaker)
-iu/-i'u (for -i'é verbs) a means: qeteiu transport means (ride means), ru'ertiu tactics (means of defense)
-iné causative verbalizer: ritiné fulfill, finish, quantiné: have something delivered, wíndiné: turn sthg red
-eo augmentative, pejorative aldi'eneo harridan, bitch, ili'eo pejoratively a boy, manchild. All augmentatives are feminine.
-iqo diminutive: ili'iqo little boy. All diminutives are feminine.
-elq lover/fan of something: li'aqtelq music fan, rengselq wine lover
-(i)wam knower of something, expert on something: li'aqtiwam music expert
-i adverbials from adjectives (replaces the - w ending of the adjective): telísw heavy (adjective) telísi heavy (adverb)
