There is no north or south in Aiwerond, and east and west change everyday, because the sun rises and sets at different points of the Aiweronian Circle during the whole year. The following words are used instead:

  • clockwise (enruliw)

  • anticlockwise (enruliw)

  • from-the-center (mibien)

  • center-ward (tusbien)

  • in-centre (zibien)

  • out-center (felbien).

The first two can be used for both location and direction, the next two are used for directions ("I go center-ward.") and the remaining two are locations ("The island lies in-center.").

Bieneialen is also the magnetic pole of Aiwerond, a compass can be used to determine the center-ward direction.

Please note that all these world directions are invariant as long as the clock remains stationary - a Traveller who has crossed the Mirror Line will agree with a stationary observer about those directions, because, for him, all stationary clocks will be "running the wrong way" - at the same time the World will be reversed for him, so an Island which was clockwise from the mainland, will remain clockwise after the Travelling.
